Obama or McCain... Today the choice is made

Myself, I am tired of what is going on with this political race. I look forward to having it over and moving on. But, when it comes to my job and the Postal Service I look forward to still many changes that are happening now and in the future. Some of these I may not like or even understand why they are happening. As an Union member, I will continue to follow the contract as well as I can and hold management where I work accountable for there actions/inactions.

What will you do?

Can't wait to see who Obama is going to place into his civilian security Force, you know, that new branch of the armed forces that he said he was going to create, the force that would be jsut as powerful as the military.

I think I got it---an FDR-style "make work" for unemployed gang members in the USA. He did get their vote, so he owes 'em.

Does anyone out there have any other idea what Obama meant when he got up and announced this new powerful security force last week.

If you have been sleeping at the switch, just youtube Obama, civilian security force, and listen to his own words.

Call me cautious, but didn't that charming and mesmerizing leader of a few decades ago in Germany form his own security force, with handsome brown jackets?

And the stupid citizens loved it up, until bad things started happening all around them.

Oh, our citizens are showing the results of public school education. They don't know history, they can't see the warning signs.

Its too late now. All we can do is wait, and pray that Obama's Marxist ideas don't destroy our freedom and liberty to pursue happiness.

Hopefully, Obama will start easy on us, taking a lesson from Uncle Adolph's "VW in every garage" idea by letting people work for the state and earn credits for a Pruis or a solar-powered moped.

Because I would kind of like a solar-powered moped.

I am wondering when the honeymoon will be over and then, with The nation of Islam, Rezko, Wright, and Ayers, Jesse "I want to cut off his nuts" Jackson, and Al sharpton putting their two-cent worth in, who will Obama target first?

The one thing about Obama is that he will empower the unions to once again take over the employers.

That will be good for us APWU people, but only if the USPS remains a necessary product for the people to utilize.

And therein lies the problem.

We are rapidly becoming unnecessary for daily communication needs.

So, will Obama be able to ultimately save our jobs? I can't see how he can, even if he is the second coming of the messiah himself.

Because as long as there is the internet, there is no need for us as a whole.

Now, Obamam plans to create millions of bureaucratic government jobs, public works jobs, and civilian security force jobs, so even though our USPS jobs may be winding down, there are going to be lots of other options for us, if we meet whatever requirements (color, gender, educational or physical status, etc) and I think we need to be on the watch for a new ship to jump onto.

Because whether its Bush, McCain, Obama or the Super Iman, no one can force people to leave the internet and start putting a pen to paper for their communication needs.

No one.

So blame Al Gore, wacked out democrat that he is, bless his little heart. After all, wasn't it he who invented the internet?

3. Both are married.... to each other

Thanks for an interesting history on the internet. I did of course know that Mr gore didn't invent it. Its just been a joke for years, since he said something to that effect.

I didn't, however know who REALLy was involved in the communication revolution until now.

any truth to the rumor that a big town hall meeting on Wednesday will tell the people that we are closing down on Sundays?

I am hearing this is happening in las Vegas and other places.

Will this not cause great chaos with everyone losing their bid jobs and having to rebid on the new days off?

Has anyone else heard this rumor?

so many rumors about loss of t-2 jobs, no pay checks in december, no more sunday or holiday working.

I think all those waring we hadover the years is coming true and worse than we thought could happen.

so I am just going to keep nose to the grindstone and earn my pay every day that I still have this job. thats all I can do.

So which foreigner brought in TB to the plant. Not a racist question, since it is fact, check public health websites, that majority of people in san diego with TB are from Asia or Africa.

Why not let the Big Three just file Chapter 11? It's not a problem-free solution, but it beats using taxpayer money to prop up a failing union. Maybe that's why Democrats seem to dismiss it out of hand.

Filing for Chapter 11 protection under bankruptcy law is the normal way a company stays in business when facing an unmanageable financial situation. It keeps creditors at bay while the company reorganizes under court supervision and settles its debts.

Bankruptcy protection also frees companies from union contracts. Could this be why it seems to have been taken off the table as an option, at least among Democrats? We can only surmise, but it's clear that a bankruptcy process would be rough going for the United Auto Workers.

The Big Three's high labor expenses would no doubt need a trim. During the last round of contract talks in 2007, the average hourly costs were over $70 at all three of the domestic automakers, compared to about $48 for Toyota.

Detroit has made progress since then in dealing with one of its crucial labor issues, the funding of health care for retirees, but its unionized plants still put it at a disadvantage to rivals such as Toyota, Nissan, BMW and Honda, which run lower-cost, nonunion operations.

The success of those foreign transplants has led to a steady drain of autoworkers from both the Big Three and the UAW. The union's membership has fallen from a high of about 1.5 million in 1979 to 465,000 as of 2007 — the first time since World War II that it has stood under a half million. It would no doubt fall further if Detroit goes through the type of reorganization typical of Chapter 11.
In the end, the American automakers may finally be fit to take on their more nimble global rivals.

I hope that this country as a whole is finally getting a litte wake-up call about how corporations in this country, by their outsourcing manufactoring, jobs, etc. are bleeding this country dry! greed, greed, greed and more greed has been at the root of so many of the economical problems that are occuring right now. from real estate brokers to the ballpark hats, kid's action figures, designed here, but made in good ole china, ad infinitum, its looks like we're getting a hint that it's not gonna work anymore.

a nation of brokers and consumers is'nt going to cut it! we need to start making our own stuff again. we need to start keeping the jobs here. s'funny, I did'nt see in our local newspaper, any complaints when they were talking about bailing out the banks, to save our economy. now in the editiorial pages, I see all this anti-talk about bailing our the auto-industry. which the commenter before me so richly illustrated how everything is in a domino effect right now, so the auto-industry does need our help, and in doing so, helps out our economy. our conservative newspaper does not seem to be catching on. it is business as usual with them. to hell with our auto-industry, lets use the cheaper international automakers, they are poised to step in and take over. again the very root of the problems that are occuring in our economy today. no jobs, no money, no spending, no economy!!!
