Interesting Postal power point.

I will sit back and watch the carnage begin. And there will be carnage. I myself will be sitting in the nosebleed section so no blood and guts splashes on me.

Just kidding, sort of. I can see the rules. They are pretty clear. But, as I have learned in my own life, dealing with an alcoholic mom and violent dad, and then beyond that in college and now here, you really must use prudence in choosing your battles.

Here's what I ask myself:

What do I personally expect to achieve?

How will it help me?

How will it help my ability to get along with my co-workers?

How will it enable me to progress with upgrades, promotions, etc, during my stay at this Agency?

What is my real motive in this endeavor?

Then I take all those Q and A's, which hopefully I have been honest with myself, and sit for a spell and think about all the consequences of my actions.

Will this elevate me as a person?

As an employee?

As a trusted peer among my co-workers?

Could this endeavor place me in a defensive position, having to defend myself in the near future? Will I end up with the black eye?

What would my family think of my energies being poured into this partivular endeavor?

After answering all of these, I share them with a trusted friend or relative, someone who is honest with me, even if it makes me angry.

Then I make my decision.

Good luck my friend.

You really have a battle ahead of you. One I have considered fighting only briefly about 14 years ago, and wisely changed my mind.

If you are willing to be a martyr for this cause, I wish you godspeed.

Hey... All I am doing myself is sitting on the sidelines. Not planning on getting into the game. Just asking questions and putting out what I have heard. Not looking to be a martyr for this cause. Figure that will be left to someone else. I will just keep my head in my little shell and be a good turtle. But, if someone sticks their finger in my shell I will bite the damn thing.

I like biting turtles. Theyre cute.

Well Terrapina,.... Mainly I don't bite... just nibble a little bit.

A Soft Tap at the Door - Max Lucado

I have something against the lying voices that noise our world. You've heard them. They tell you to swap your integrity for a new sale. To barter your convictions for an easy deal. To exchange your devotion for a quick thrill.

They whisper. They woo. They taunt. They tantalize. They flirt. They flatter. "Go ahead, its OK." "Don't worry, no one will know."

The world rams at your door; Jesus taps at your door. The voices scream for your allegiance; Jesus softly and tenderly requests it. The world promises flashy pleasure; Jesus promises a quiet dinner...with God.

Which voice do you hear?

(from "In the Eye of the Storm")

Proverbs 9:13-18 (New Century Version)

13 Foolishness is like a loud woman; she does not have wisdom or knowledge.
14 She sits at the door of her house at the highest place in the city.
15 She calls out to those who are passing by, who are going along, minding their own business.
16 She says to those who are uneducated, "Come in here, you foolish people!
17 Stolen water is sweeter, and food eaten in secret tastes better."
18 But these people don't know that everyone who goes there dies, that her guests end up deep in the grave.

I was talking with my friend over dueling treadmills yesterday and she said that this blogsite was brought back by somebody else. I checked and sure enough.

It looks to be slightly different and political and not too interesting for me now, but that is okay. other people might like it tho.

My question is actually a shout out for Marion. I am just saying hi and sorry we didn't get a chance to meet each other. I have gone to 2 union meetings since April but never had the chance to meet you face to face. Are you still helping behind the scenes or maybe you made shop steward with the new president getting in now.

Are you going to be at the picnic? I am going with 2 co-workers. It is always a fun time seeing people from the other offices and catching up on the gossip. So if you are still reading this blog this is just a hello over the net.

And ps, I like nibbling, if its gentle.

I don't care I like the picture of the donkey & the elephant the way they look is funny. So it not union as normal. But this election is not normal. Check out the local web site and get Smart. There is a good link there on all of of them.
This maint. thing I don't know I don't have the balls to call the OIG and why should I it does not matter to me here in the station.
But I think someone with balls from the union should try and say something anyway.
jonnydrunk got it right lets see what they look like. Put there picture on the local web site. You think they will show up the the picnic. O I bet she is not a union member.. Look like you got some balls if your drunk anyway why don't you call the OIG.
I'm just waiting to get out of the crazy house and start my life. This is no life here yes we do get paid real good but no repect or anything for a job will done.

Like to say Hello to Commuter Cutie.... Yes, it has been sometime since I have seen you write anything on this board. Nice to know that you are still around.

I still look over this board every two or three days. Not a lot is going on anymore concerning our Union anymore. Main thing is politics here and also what is possible going on in Maintenance.

Myself, when it comes to politics I prefer not make a choice until I am sure which is going to be the better person for the position. Now with what is going on in Maintenance. If it is true that a Senior Maintenance Management person is having his significant other up as a 204b then I do believe that is a problem. I would hope that our Union would step in because I believe it is a Federal violation even if it is not a Postal violation.

I was not planning on attending the Union picnic this year. Have already made other plans before it was known about. Hope you have a good time. Yes, I do try to stay active in the Union doing what little I can since I am not a shop steward.

So... If you like to keep in touch as I said before I am down at MLS. Or you can send me an email. If not... just keep writing here.

Have a nice day.....

It would be nice to see the maint dynasty overthrown here. But....I do truly believe the union has much more important issues on the front burner.

For instance, just heard today at the union meeting that Area says San Diego is 150 clerks too many. 150 people too many????!!!!! Plus they are now saying they want to cut 30% of the Motor Vehicle Service personnel.

Also that the range for excessing these 150 clerks and 30% MVS has been increased from 100 to 500 miles.

Also Injured people continue to be sent home. And working injured people are now being scared into keeping their injuries a secret.

So what I am saying is, let Mr. Main Mgr screw his girlfriend boyfriend, or whatever his preference is. Really and truly, that is immaterial to our craft people. Splitting up the lovebirds will do nothing to prevent our members from being sent up the river a long ways.

That is where the union needs to mobilize all their assets and brightest minds to prevent a major catastrophe. If you were to ask the 150 junior people in this town if they care whether a mgr is screwing his 204b girlfriend, or is they care they they could get uprooted, I think you know the answer.

I also am a treadmill junkie. I go to 24 hour fitness in Mission Valley, run for an hour a day, and i'm all set.

I used to be a letter carrier back east, but got bit by a deaf boxer a dig, by the way, not a guy with gloves who floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee, and decided to come out here and try the clerk routine. Thing is, its not busy enough work and so I gotta treadmill every night after work.

TO ***ALL*** POSTAL EMPLOYEES

Ask yourself these simple questions:
Are you *tired* at the end of your work tour?
Do you go home from work with bodily aches and pain from performing exhausting physical labor for eight hours?
Do you wake up with bodily stiffness, aches and pain from performing exhausting physical labor for eight hours the previous day?
(Believe it or not, *many* postal employees *do.*)

Do you think it is too much to ask of those postal employees who do not perform exhausting physical labor for eight hours a day to at least have respect for those who do?

It may be news to you, but those who do sometimes have trouble respecting those who don't.

Respect cannot be stolen by manipulating others by holding a certain position. Respect must be earned the same way everyone else earns respect; by being fair, compassionate, understanding and by carrying your share of the load.

Try putting yourself in the shoes of other people. Wake up.

yea, sometimes I get tired. sometimes, no, frequently I get sore. sometimes it is a tiredness that I could only describe as mental fatigue. not from having to think, from the deadly monotony of it all. I work at a station that is made up of mostly older people. including expecially the carriers. we all dabble in joking and kidding dialogue to help get past the drudgery of the workplace. everybody that I can see is working hard. don't see the window clerks, but I hear their stories. nobody escapes where I work. I'm a guy and almost daily I see women working harder than myself. (and I'm not exactly slacking off either) there may be a couple that are not working hard for eight hours, but they are not in my immediate work area, so the respect thing does'nt come up. it does'nt come up anyway, lately. everybody seems to be pretty respectful for the most part. it was not alway's the case here. like you said, respect has to be earned. I can certainly relate to your last paragraph and sentence at the end of your comment. its wise advice for everyone, for anytime.
