Personalization of your work area in the Postal Service

What does everyone think of about individuals personalizing their personal workspace on postal property? Like some of the examples that I will provide:

1. Lee Miller's office with his golf memorabilia and his other personal items.
2. Charger and Zena cutouts on the MLS plant floor by the printshop.
3. Supervisor's desk on the workroom floor with family pictures and flowers.
4. Mules on workroom floor with stickers and flag's on them.

So what is wrong with maintenance personal having family pictures, American Flags, or other items on their toolboxes? Are we not all Postal employees? Why is there such a disparate treatment between the employees? I do not care if the Postal employees are managers, supervisors, or craft employees. "All Postal employees" should be treated when it comes to personalizing their personal workspace. All of us work inside or on Postal property so the same rules should apply to all employees on personalization of their workspace. Not for Management to capriciously and randomly enforce their views on employees.

as long as managers believe they are god they will do what they want.

only an EEO will fix the disparate treatment.

This is some information to all you Vets out here. If you want to do some bitch'in. Well then why not direct it someplace useful. Like down here in San Diego maintenance management has a bug up its' collective ass towards having stickers on postal issued tool boxes. You may not think to much of this.... but for many of the maintenance employees here it is a big deal. Since many of them are veterans from all the services. What has happened is that maintenance management decided that "all" stickers and decals had to be removed from the maintenance tool boxes. Well, when asked about Postal, Military, and about the US Flag that was on many of them. It was told to them that those also had to be removed.

So I now ask all of you out here... Since we work for USPS in the United States.... How many of you would find the Postal logo, Military symbols, or the US Flag offensive? Well, I can name a few individuals in the maintenance management below that find it offensive that work at MLS P&DC in San Diego. Since they are the individuals in management who are pushing on this.

1. Charles Sweet
2. Lee Miller
3. Gary Hill
4. David Decker
5. Jamie Tan

I think the tool box issue is a typical example of a zero tolerance policy and how it makes people stupid.

Everyone with a brain knows that most of the personalized items on the floor are there to brighten up the day. They are not obscene or offensive. I haven't seen anything of that nature since the days when the guys had their girlie calendars up, and even that didn't bother most sane people.

Its just that management is loaded with uptight power-hungry jerks, and they need to feel powerful and important. Like the bully at school when you were growing up.

The key is, to find the bully's achilles heel. And they all have one. It takes a little time and patience, but its worth the wait. See, they may think they are smarter than us and think they are made of teflon. But thats when they get sloppy. And OIGs, congressman, EEOs and other avenues will bring them down a few rungs on the ladder. Eventually

David Decker was a Marine in the Irag war. He used to wear a vest with a American flag on it that said try and burn this one!
But now that he is in management he says Military symbols and the US Flag could be offensive?
What do you think about that!!!

Management is just passing the pain, they can't be happy so we can't be happy. It probably all started when someone rolling their toolbox with an American flag gave a superior the stink eye. Remember, we are just subordinates.

I found this posted on another board and thought it might make a good addition to this. Since it does pertain to maintenance.

This is an excerpt that I have come across from Washington DC from the Hiring and Placement (Bargaining)

"We are in the process of investigating a scoring issue with examination 955 and the MSS structured interview. Please be aware that we are taking action to stop the reporting of exam 955 results temporarily. Also, effective immediately , please advise Lead Interviewers to refrain from inputting ratings into OASYS for structured interviews.

We will keep you apprised of the situation as information becomes available."

I know this is just a local post office blog, so maybe a new blog is in order for this subject, but I am starting to think that we have a dictator as president of the USA.

I know that many people were hypnotized by Obama during his campaign which was run very well, but I really think this guy is a trojan horse. He is not what everybody thought he was.

I just looked at his executive order that he signed on January 21st, isn't that when he took office? This order prevents anyone from using the freedom of information act to get any information about him. And even past presidents are forbidden from getting any information about Obama.

Why was that the first thing Obama did after he took his botched oath of office? What is he hiding? Why is he hiding things? I thought he said he was going to transform the government and make it transparent.

But we are not allowed to even see his college thesis. Usually, people so secretive have something to hide. Like our Rick COrnelius, who no-one really knew, and he was sneaky and paranoid. I think Obama is the same type of person as Rick. But unlike Rick, Obama has the keyes to Everything. He can make or break ALL of us.

Like Rick, Obama is appointing cronies without any oversight or approval from anyone. Obama has 32 Czars already, in just 6 months. Doing stuff with no oversight procedures in place, because I don't think our constitution has the rules down for czars yet. YET.

So maybe I should start a blog called BHODictatorship, or something like that. I think this blog, when it was exposing Rick, did a good job to help get rid of him. But I am afraid a blog that exposes Obama would get the blogger in the gulag.

So I guess I need to just worry about being sent to Tour 1 at management's whims.

Seriously, do you have nothing better to do? If you are so fed up with management, why are you not active in becoming one? I know why. Because it takes "Huevos", discipline, character, integrity, unbiased
to the bigger picture of earning a pay check without feeling entitled to stickers, because you work for the goverment.

Welcome to the real world, in which managers call the shots. I do not work for the Govt, but I can assure you that nobody denies your patriotism. Though, your believe that pics, stickers ,posters, etc.,make you a better employee, you are sadly mistaken.

Yes. Managers are entitled to decor their space, since it is obvious they have earned their stripes baby sitting all of you entitled govt. workers.

It sounds like these Managers, (Lee Miller, Dave Decker, Ray Meanor,Gary Hill)are the leaders because they have proven them selfs in numerous times defending our rights, and freedom.
So how dare you, question their integrity.
