Simple question ... difficult answer?

I am happy to see that there are still a few people looking at this blog. I do apologize for not keeping it updated as much as I should have. I have been busy with some personal and work-related items that have kept me away from the blog.

Right now I would like to "Thank Roger" for bringing up our locals website and to anyone who has given Roger any assistance.

So.... just a simple question for everyone.....

How do you think Tom Wood is doing?

OK! so Roger is putting some things on the locals web site.

Why is the stewards page only showing the officers?

Why are there no officers information?

Retiree's link has NOTHING, Shouldn't Vito be able to give some information? After all Vito is the retiree's president.

Doesn't the local Union have email?

What about past issues of the potpourri?

How about minutes of the Union meetings?

Why not post copies of bid sheets and when bids are awarded post that also?

If Tom Wood is in charge why don't we see anything happening?

By the way, why was tagfart taking up space in the Union office at carmel mtn on Monday July 28, 2008?

I don't believe anyone has a clue as to how much damage throughout the entire district Rick Cornelius did in his 3 year dictatorship.

I also don't think most have any idea how much damage control is required even now to keep things from completely slipping away.

Now, the new Prez has to correct the wrongs of the past 3 years, replace good union reps who walked away from the mess or ran screaming for their lives.

He has to make new inroads with new managers who were newly appointed in the past 3 years and only know our local as Rick's lying cheating style of unionism.

Then there are the many internal issues that required attorney consults thanks to Ricky-Poo.

Now, look at what mgmt is doing with the jobs. That in itself requires all craft directors and their assistants to be involved almost full time, and that can't happen because mgmt wouldn't allow it and because the members wouldn't go for full time LWOP to cover these people when they have to take off to do uinion work. In order for the craft officers to do a complete job, they will have to resort to working off the clock unpaid by mgmt or union. And if they don't you the member will complain that they aren't doing their job.

It is 3 full months since we got rid of the worst plague to affect any organization. He ran amok, basically free rein, for 3 years with the help of thugs, some of whom are on the Executive Board today. And that too, can be an impediment to what Tom Wood is trying to accomplish.

For Gods sake, be thankful you even still have a solvent union, because you almost lost it last year when Rick and his fake job offer got a women fired and set up a chain of events that almost resulted in a lawsuit.

And remember folks. That happened because those trying to warn the members about Rick's unscrupulousness were shouted down, booted out, and made the scapegoats.

Tom Wood knows you can't make fake job offers. He understands that there are laws and rules that must be followed. As such, he may not appear to be so quickly affective as Rick was with his presto, here is your fake job offer trick. Haste makes waste. Ask those victims of Rick's premature unthought out actions.

Doing things the right way takes a little longer. Support your local union in their endeavor to bring back civility, respectability, reliability, and strength.

And this blog is not the place to make suggestions either. If you have constructive suggestions, write them down and submit them to your Executive Board. They meet every month and look forward to new ideas that could help them in their 3 year mission to advance this local, protect its integrity, and enforce the contract.

I am soon to be tuning out. My opportunity for freedom is right around the corner, and I am taking it soon. Good Luck all.

I think that Roger and everyone else involved in building the new Local web site are doing a sensational job!!! The average Joe has *no idea* how much time and effort are necessary to construct a web site brick by brick. It looks like items are being thoughtfully added in priority order of their importance. Some really fantastic items are available already on the web site.

Who needs past issues of the potpourri? Don't waste Roger's time.

Be patient and let Roger do the work. So far, the new web site is the Best this branch has ever had.

Well.. since I asked the question... Maybe I should put in my 2 cents worth on this question.

Yes, I think Tom Wood is doing a decent job of cleaning up after our last Local President Mr. Rick Cornholio.... But, I also believe that the members should be told and kept informed of what Tom Wood and our elected officals have been doing for us as members. Plus, to inform us as members the damages that have occurred to our Union while Cornholio and his bastard children were raping our Local. What our Union has had to do to correct any problems that Cornholio either made or left for Tom Wood to fix.

Here is a simple question.... Why was Rick Cornelius having our Local's official mail sent to his "personal mailbox" in zone 92138? Has our Local stopped and recovered any and all Union correspondence that is going to Cornelius's personal mailbox?

Well does anyone out there have an answer to that?

Anonymous said...

Also, did you know Rick refuses to turn in his keys?

He knows that charges against him won't really do any good. So he can be a jerk and unprofessional about losing the election and know nothing will happen as a result.

But we will change the locks, pay the costs, and try to get past the tragedy of having an idiot with ill intent as the head honcho.

Its over now. The people are trying to clean up the mess. I think they are trying to keep the mud slinging to minimum now.

remember that the people who outed Rick and his posse as the thieves they were, got nothing but a bad reputation for doing so.

They self-destructed in order to get the truth out. I don't think this current group of eboard people want to go that route. So, that is why they chose to not share any facts on the charges against Rick that were voted on in May. They saw that the bearers of bad news got crapped on and rejected.

They want to try a different approach. Smooth things over and move ahead now, is their plan, I think. And who knows, maybe thats what we need to do.

People don't really want to know all the evil going on around them. They like to live in their insulated little happyland, pretending everything is peachy. to introduce reality to people is risky. So, maybe a little less reality is what the members are really looking for now.

Anonymous said...

I disagree that the members don't want to know just HOW Bad Rick was.

You gotta understand that many of them were brainwashed into believing that anything they heard about Rick was fabricated. And hate to say it, but many of our members aren't working for the USPS because they are rocket scientists. Many don't have the smarts, education, or common sense to work anywhere else but a federal wellfare job like ours. So you need to account for that.

You could show them a video of Rick committing a crime and they'd say it was created and didn't really happen.

Those people are lost causes.

Now, there are others who knew damn well what Rick was up to, but also knew that Rick is a sycho-nutjob and would (and probly is right now) give out their home addresses, social security numbers etc, so they were scared into silence.

Others had their own little sweet deals going on and didn't feel they should throw stones in their own glass house.

And just so everybody knows. Rick does still have keys, and does have copies of EVERYONE's personal information. He took file cabinets-full of OUR private info to his love nest in North Park, where it sits in his bedroom, next to all his empty energy potion cannisters and Star bucks cups.

He's just waiting for the right time, when everyone forgets he was ever dictator of the local.

Ask Tagart about it. He is trying hard to give the impression that he is a company man now, playing according to his new bosses rules.

Don't be fooled. And Tagart more than anyone knows all the evil Rick is still up to. If Tagart REALLY took his oath of office seriously, he would make it his personal crusade to enlighten the eboard members who are in the dark about things, and help the local to force Cornelius to give up all the files, keys, etc, like he swore under an oath to do when he took office in May of 2005.

Has Tagart lifted one lard-packed finger to try to safeguard all of us? Ask him yourself. You'll love his pansy answer.

I can only put up on the web what they give me and tell me to put up.
So ask your stewards and officers about it, tell them to give the lists and I will put them up ok.

take a look.

For the Local's new web site, It would be cool to have a list of shop stewards and their "route" or whatever you call their assigned pay locations.

Like for instance, the Midway or MLS people could get on the site and see who the stewards for their are are.

And the people at city stations could see where their closest steward is too.

Also, it would be kind of interesting to have a stewards article, report, stat sheet, or what have you. Like for example, whats the scoop that we out here need to be aware of, as far as weird new rules management might put out there or something.

I just saw something really cool on the local web site.
House Passes FERS Sick-Leave Bill!!
We can sell our sick leave back now.
Its has the APWU news feed on it.
That is so nice way to go.

Anonymous said...

here is the real title of the FERS sick leave bill.

2/15/2007--Introduced.
Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act - Amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to provide for the regulation of tobacco products by the Secretary of Health and Human Services through the Food and Drug Administration, including through disclosure, annual registration, inspection, recordkeeping, and user fee requirements.
Sets forth criteria by which tobacco products are deemed adulterated or misbranded.

do a google search for HR 1108. after reading that bill do you really belive that it will become law?

How come no one has any comment about a few tour one employees winning 1 million dollars from an EEO complaint?

There is a notice near the employees entrance. But no mention of any money.

Anonymous said...

The rumor mills are grinding 24/7 about the EEO settlement against tour one MLS mgmt.

We will probably never know for sure, unless the entire terms of the signed settlement are posted on the wall at MLS, or if some reporter through a freedom of information act rule gets his or her hands on it, which I don't think is likely.

But we can watch quietly from the sidelines and see what happens to the managers supposedly involved in the charge of discrimination.

Watch for manager movement. If you see people who were previously well entrenched on tour one suddenly leaving for another assignment at Midway, an AO, or Temecula, or what have you, then you can pretty much figure that they were involved and that they have to be moved away from the site of their actions against the employee.

Now, will mgmt put in to remove these guilty parties from postal employment? Well, if they are people that aren't well liked by mgmt, an outsider, they might get some serious adverse action put on them. But, if they are part of the nepotism-run, we-are-family-culture of management, they will just move them.

Now, we just stand back and watch. We will probably get mandated stand-up talks on discrimination and all that blah-blah- crap that they don't really believe in. And you will see a juggling of supervisors and managers away from where the lucky winners currently hold a bid.

And management had best beware that the natives in the trenches may get inspired to wage their own little campaigns, now that someone got a toehold on the steep cliff and made some progress for workers basic rights.

Management will ONLY reevaluate their behaviors if they are forcefully thrust in front of an EEO judge and a verdict rendered against them and their pathetic reasons for how they treat employees.

Money talks, people. It makes the world go round, and it can bring management to a new way of thinking, if only for a temporary period of time.

They are in defense mode now. Its time to take advantage of this momentary period of weakness. I myself am done with battling. I am trying now to stay out of the wpotlight for the remaining few years of my career. But, for those just starting out. Its a different story.

Ben Kenobi, you must come out of exile. With managers going after us like they are, we need all the experienced jedi fighters we can get.

don't let us down. Tom Woods needs you right now. Especially at my station, where they are saying they want to take away many full time jobs and replace with part time jobs.

Anonymous said...

I don't think that Bill says we can sell back our sick leave.

I read it and its sort of confusing. But I think it just means if we have 1 year of sick leave on the books and 25 years service, that we get 26 years of sevice credited to of retirement.

Does this sound right? I am not good at reading legaleeze

to matthew said (8-5-08 12:52)

your quote from matthew to me is irrelavant. according to my beliefs anyway. I believe that God created everything that exists. that includes all trees planted in fact and in fable. (writing) anything that man can create -- write, draw, design, engineer etc. is because God has designed it so. yea, yea, I know free will and all that. The game, a rigged one at that. it is already known by God what the outcome will be, so the written story is really meaningless, because there is'nt a tree that God has'nt planted, either in the ground or man's mind! time to expand your thought processes beyond parroting scriptures and pointing them at someone in admonishment. better to follow, what I think is another writing out of the Bible, leave the judging up to God. nuff said

to anonymous at August 5, 2008 9:54 AM.

you are correct. the bill will make your sick leave just like the other system (CSRS). a day credit for each 8 hours on the books.

however do not look for this to become law.

Anonymous said...

It would be good if that bill becomes law, but if it doesn't, its alright too. I have been saving my sick leave for 17 years. I already have enough stuff wring with me to be able to get doctor's notes to stay out for months to take care of the problems. So, in about 8 years, when I have 30 years of service and am fixing to retire, I am going to indeed go to the doctor and start cashing in on my investment. Just like I've seen every supervisor in recent years do.

Question: Do you still earn annual and sick leave while you are out on Annual or Sick Leave?

Here is my experience with Tom Wood as president compared to rick cornelius as president.

When Rick was there, I called him with a question about the wierd stuff happening at my office in North county, bids getting changed all of a sudden start times changes were really bad and with no notice.

Rick said to me, he would have to get back with me later because he had some kind of building maintenence meeting with trees or something I didn't get. I waited a day. Then called back. He said he had to get with some body from the margaret sellers plant first then to my office. Then a weeek later I call again and the secretary said he was not there but she took a meesage that I ask he come to my office to see the problem we had.

That was almost one year ago, it will be a year in september, and Rick never called back. I just gave up because I have a short temper and could feel my blood pressure getting up there. It took election times, then Rick I think sent out that big guy, his friend to our office and he said something like vote for me and I will make everything good here. So I learned that only at election time does Rick and his aides come to call.

Now with the new president. I called to the office with my problem, talked to the secretary, (same one as last year, I remember her nice voice) and the next day, here is Tom Wood at my office to see the manager over the problem.

Different as night and day. That other guy I think was too afraid because I don't know if he was ready to do the big job of president.

I myself am glad we have a real president now that is not afraid to show his face when there is a problem.

Anonymous said...

I hear Tom is afraid to get involved in the maintenance issue.
about a t-2 204b that is to close to Mr. Sweet. He will not talk about it. What up with that!!!!
He might be afraid of what he would lose if he said anything.
So is he afraid?

Anonymous said...

can you really determine someone is afraid to deal with something? Or is there a strategy involved with keeping mum at the present time? Sometimes, fools, you need to know when to hold tasty morsels close, and save them for the biggest bang. And in case you all forgot, there is a maint director and asst director. Could it be that the President, unlike the last one, is respecting the officers who represent that craft, and is putting the issue in their hands? Just some stuff to think about.

Anonymous said...

anonymous at aug 6 at 9:10 am. who are you talking about? care to give a name?

I believe that the maint director and asst director are way too busy to take on any other problems.

the discipline is running ramped in maintenance with suspensions and terminations.

bids are not being posted and other bids are having their days off changed.

Anonymous said...

the maint director and asst director will never say or do anything to upset maintenance management!

Anonymous said...

Pssst..... Have you heard the latest rumor going on in Maintenance? The one about the 204b and Sweet? Oh that is right.. That is old news. Forgot that she use to be on Tour 3 as a support clerk while being his squeeze.

Now that The Ex president is gone, what has happened to all of the Local's vital records are on his home computer? Remember he was a steward for many years and has your SSN's on most of the information.

What else does he have?
