Well beginning today and tomorrow a lot of our stewards and officers will be heading to Las Vegas for the APWU National Convention that will be starting on Saturday. I am asking that anyone who is going up there please take a few minutes during your time up there and enlighten all of us down here in the San Diego area what is going on up there.

Some of the changes are taking effect on Aug 23, 2008.
And why are the changes taking effect between pay periods?
I was taught that all changes were to take effect on day one of the pay period, NOT day eight.

The people on tour 2 was excess for the need of the service to tour 3 or 1 not giver there walking papers. The whole tour 2 clearks will start at 0800 starting the 23th. But I think this should be some thing of interest.

When it is proposed to reassign employees within an installation employees excess to the need of a service, union notification shall be at the local level (as much as six months in advance when possible) pursuant to Article 12.5.B.4. (JCIM, Article 12, page 11).
On this issue the union office should filed a class action grievances for failing to provide the local six months advance notice. One of the remedies should be sought by the union is the employees be compensated out-of-schedule pay.
They was not given giver very much time to get anything together.

Well this is not gossip. Let me ask this to anyone out here. Why is Brandon and Alpha still stewards? Neither of them are doing the job. The office for the Union has been dark on Tour 3 at MLS ever since the "real stewards" left for the convention in Vegas. Hell... neither Brandon or Alpha are proud to still be stewards... I have never seen them wear their steward badge ever since Cornholieo lost the election. Are they ashamed of themselves or what?

the reason this is happening is politics, if Tom fires them they will use it in the next election. if they quit Tom can use it in the next election.
why don't you talk to them and tell them you are going to file charges against them. you could even go to the labor department. then this could be used in the next election against them.
Anyone and everyone interested in a transfer to the new facility in moreno valley ca. start looking on e-reassign. the managers positions have been posted on e-career. so it will not be too long before positions are available on e-reassign.

The Union already met with the employees of tour 2 about the time change. And there is no absolute requirement for 6 months notification. Ready your contract again friend. If that rule was in stone, the USPS nationwide would be broke for EVERY single excessing they have EVER done.
Also, Tom Wood and Sandi Shoultz have been in constant contact with the steward covering tour 2 this week. Tour 3, unfortunatly, will have to get by without a steward. Have you considered, my brother, that Tom Wood set up Brandon and Alpha to test them to see if they would follow instructions to cover the office? If they don't, then he has clear cut reasons to decertify them, now, doesn't he.
If you have dealt with management and the discipline process before, you know that the only way to make punishments stick it to give the person enough rope to hang himself. That is what is happening right now on tour 3.
Watch. And if those stewards (I use that term lightly) read this, you might see them all of a sudden darken the APWU office door with there unionist brother and sisterhood this very thursday. They dont read this, of course, but Ricky Cornelius does, and he could very well call them with a heads up. If you don't think that jerk is still involved, you are wrong.
There were excessing talks on tour 2 last saturday. Tom Wood was there. People are getting excessed one day before the bid sheet comes out. They will get retreat rights. The remaining bids will be changed (some days off) and offered in section bidding to the people who remain. Its all being done according to contract.
And remember people, Leonard Alexander is your craft director. If there was a violation of the magnitude that you are preaching, you can bet that he would be all over it.
And also, it is very hard to get internet access in las vegas. You have to pay a dollar a minute for access through the hotels, or you can travel far away by car and find a Panera or Crispy Cremem that offers it for free. Its not accessible like in other cities.
I don't believe that our local has been abandonded to management just because there is a convention in vegas. Cell phones do work, have worked in past conventions, and all grievances receive an extension for this time period.
So chill out, friend. They sky is not falling. Excessing is a way of postal life. Soon most of us will be gone. That is the trend, and that is our destiny. Start saving your extra cola money. The downsizing has just begun.
Anyone who thinks Tom is keeping people in the dark must be a closet Rickie supporter. Because you would have to be a Rickie boy to know what it truly means when a president keeps his members in the dark.
Tom Wood doesn't do that. He is, however, discreet. He doesn't believe in blowing people's private info all over the place, lying about people, or creating an atmosphere of distrust and hatred.

Because tom has, in the span of 4 months, revived the steward program, the 10/4, bid meetings, shop steward training, hell, he even has Rush Limbaugh's biggest fan, Republican-to-the-max Tagart wearing vote Obama buttons. If he can get a hard right sanctimonious blowhard wlike will tagart to make a left turn like that, then I think Tom Wood can get this local back together and back to normalcy.
Its happening before your eyes, but you are looking behind trying to find your sheister Cornelius, who is currently holed up in his bunker, trying to figure out whether he wants to transfer out of state, or wait the 5 years he is not allowed to participate in any union representation activity and then run again when everyone has forgotton the damage he did.

Looks like the convention is over now, and I guess some of the delegates are attending the workshops. I noticed there is a workshop on excessing and I hope that our new e-board members take that class, because I have a feeling when we get the guy that replaces platt we are in for some real problems.
They are looking at every body in the station where I am at. They want to put window duties on every bid, even the backroom bid.
They want to put scheme even on the full window bids. We don't have enough mail to make more people scheme qualified. so I think that they want to see who can pass and who can fail. I have both on my bid, so I don't worry about that. But then they talk about changing the days off of bids, and I don't know if we are allowed to keep our bids when they change days off, but I don't think we do unless the rules got changed during last contract time.
Wherever you look, whether it be olympics, politics or the workroom floor, there are always two teams - the winning team and the losing team.
Here at the Post Office, the winners are the regular, hard-working employees who come in dependably, do their job, carry their share of the workload, and are usually dues-paying Union Members. They are team players and work well with their equals. They pretty well know their job and mind their own business. They come in, do their work and go home. Bravo!
Unfortunately, to balance out this harmonious working environment, on the evil side, there has to be the negative loser element. This losing team of liars, cheaters, slanderers, gossipers and back-stabbers cannot get into the program of living regular, happy, fulfilled lives. The losers leaders can be spotted around, constantly on the prowl, looking for new losers to recruit to their side and watching for opportunities to create disharmony, confusion and inefficiency.
I would like to encourage the Winners to keep on winning, and to continue to disregard and ignore the losers as the losers continue on their path of self-destruction.

Whoever thinks Tom Wood got the charges pulled doesn't understand the appeals system.
It takes YEARS for the bureaucracy at National to dig through the charges that are regularly submitted to them by hundreds of people across the country. They have to take care of the biggest ones first.
In Florida a few years ago, for instance, the National had to take the local over and run their affairs due to monetery theft by their president.
Our Eboard from last year took their oaths seriously and kept their eyes on our local sheister, Mr cornelius. He was a naughty boy, but thanks to the few people who had the guts to stand up to him and risk the wrath of the mystery 50 at meetings, Rick wasn't able to steal too much, destroy much more than just the LMOU, tour steward program, and 10/4 program, and the respect our local used to have.
So, long story short, the national has to take the gross examples of mismanagement and deal with them first.
There IS still a charge up there, waiting. It won't be heard until next convention. You think its only grievances and RI399 that takes years and years for justice to be served? Think again.
Its time to leave the travesty of the Cornelius Dictatorship behind us. He was overthrown. Now, the democracy in office is trying to repair the damage. There are some things he can't fix, such as the LMOU that Rick and Tagart failed to negotiate properly. (remember, Tagart was Rick's Number one appointee, used in place of the vice president, clerk craft directors, etc. Check his LWOP usage during Rick's term and you will see I am not lying here.) You got what you paid for, and you overaid for very inexperienced representation.
This we will have to live with until the next contract is signed. Too late. And no one heeded the warnings that were blaring when local negotiations were supposed to be going on. SO the membership must take some of the blame for that too and just live with it.
Now, what is rally scary. After going through 3 years of inexperienced representation from a president who had no executive experience, insulted the old guard, and promised CHange Change Change, now the union is shoving another unproven upstart, Obama, down our throats. Oh yeah, change is good, its always good. Rick promised change. Look what Rick did to our Local. Get ready for some changing fun when we get another empty head with empty promises in the white house.
I don't think our union will ever learn.
Well, the 2008 Summer Olympic Games held in Beijing, People's Republic of China from August 8 to August 24, 2008, are completed. There were thirty-three (33) sports events in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, not including lying, cheating, slandering, gossiping and back-stabbing. None of the world-class competitors working here at MLS had the opportunity to participate in the areas in which they most excel. One can only hope that they will continue to practice and fine-tune these skills for which they are best known. Just only, please, try to stand off to the side while the rest of us are working to process the mail.

Our managers are indeed topnotch in their class. The scores would come so close I think there would have been ties for the top three medal spots.
All I can say is, we need to watch our backsides, because USPS needs to get rid of lots of employees, and we have a no lay off clause. But we don't have a no-firing clause.
So some body took care of some nepotism from what I hear at work. I work Midway Tour 1 downstairs. Anyways, Evonn Franklin and Noel Lagaspi in trouble and they will be seperated nbow.
So word is Evonn will be going with the San Bernardino district and Noel has to go back to his craft with lowest seniority rate. And that he is going to work at Midway on Tour 2.
because someone spilled the beans on them and their relationship which made some people suffer in the workplace and now they awarded something to the person will told on them and then they followed up by getting rid of the supervisors.
So, we may be able to get rid of all supervisors who have relationships and make us workers suffer in the consequence of their relationship.
