Before I do shut this blog down.. I still have a few things to get off my chest. So I will start with this one today... In a few more days I will continue getting things off my chest.
Even with the excess notices being given out to clerks and mailhandlers I still notice a lot of them let the supervisors continue to do craftwork instead of just supervising. Do these individuals think that this supervisor actually cares about them? Or just that the mail is gotten out of there quicker? Majority of these craftworkers do not remind me of jellyfish... no backbone to stand up and tell the supervisor to leave the mail alone and to let the shop stewards know about it.

Well you are right a lot of people do not want to get involved. They might make waves and call attention to themselves.
Well, I for one will miss having this site up. I enjoyed it with the first blogger and you have done a decent job of maintaining it. Sorry to see you go.
But, you got me to thinking that maybe there still is a need for a blog or something similar for people to talk on or even vent. So, before the 15th December I will go ahead and start something up. More than likely I will try to do something that is for San Diego Postal Employees. What do you think?

It's all about love.
This is the season of the year to improve our present personal relationships and to anticipate the development of good new ones during the coming year.
A *GOOD* relationship has been described as: "People walking in the same direction on the same path."
This pretty well defines any and every good human relationship. (A work relationship, romantic relationship, business relationship, family and friends relationships, etc., etc., etc.) Think about it.
What is *LOVE*?
Most often, love is confused with infatuation - that elated, "high" feeling we get when we "fall in love." This kind of "love" is something that lasts typically less than a year, and unless replaced by true love, results in broken relationships. Our love is usually conditional and based upon how other people behave toward us. This kind of love is based upon familiarity and direct interaction.
The Good Book (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
describes true love:
Love is patient and kind
Love does not envy or boast. It isn’t arrogant or rude.
Love doesn’t insist on it's own way. It isn’t irritable or resentful,
Nor does it rejoice in doing wrong. It rejoices in truth.

Now something else that bothers me is how Upper Management overlooks a group of individuals at MLS and Midway. This has been going on for a long time.
Having worked on all three tours at MLS and spoken with many others. I find it interesting that this one group continues to disregard simple rules that the rest of us are made to follow.
This group of individuals is "Maintenance Management". Just one simple rule they disregard everyday is the one concerning how "ALL EMPLOYEES" are supposed to come into/out the building thru the one employee entrance. Instead, Maintenance Management, parks behind the building and goes into/out of the building without using the employee entrance. Why is this allowed to happen? Are these individuals any different than any other Postal employee that they can disregard the rules?
So why does Charles Sweet and his Managers/Supervisors do this? Does anyone know?
Good question about the official entrance for postal supervisors/managers. Valerie Neff, and the rest of the MDOs all use the official entrance like the rest of us.
But Charles Sweet is in his own little world. I do believe he thinks he is superior to all others, even in his peer group.
He believes that contracts, rules, and laws are made not to be followed, but to be circumvented, disregarded, and ignored.
And he also believes that it is his right to punish those who question his motives.
He is not easily controlled, and bristles at anyone, even a superior, telling him what to do or not do.
A department with such a head cannot expect to run without grievances continuing to be raised by righteously indignant craft members. This kind of continuous static is not good for morale, costs the USPS untold thousands of dollars to adjudicate, and wrecks what could be the last good craft in which to settle into for the longhaul.
Can Charles be reined in? I don't believe so. You feed the monster for years as much as he wants to eat, and soon you have something that has grown too big and powerful to hold back.
Other megalomaniacal managers have met their career end in accidental ways, such as a real gem we had at Midway for years.
Finally, he was caught in one of his filthy swear-word insulting tirades by a group of big-wigs who were there from Washington DC on a surprise tour.
Within 1 month, the man who tormented so many for so long was gone. "Resigned" Took a slightly early deferred retirement.
Selling cars in a car lot in El Cajon before moving back east with Mommy and Daddy again.
So, Just remember, it happened to Dave Evans, and fate and karma can also work in mysterious ways for seemingly inpenetrable powerforces like Sweet.
Just wait, watch, stay cool and under the radar. They always end up doing it to themselves.

Oh I remember the ex manager from Midway. What a jerk.
He was A lot filthier than Sweet could be. The Midway mgr was stealing stuff from the charity hampers and hiding it in his locked private office. He used to pick up funky groovin' urban girls on El Cajon Blvd and take them home for a cup of tea and a nice little talk. He used to threaten to fire people, and he did fire people.
No one misses him. Wonder if the PO hired him back wherever he went.
How long will it take before the economy reaches us, the protected postal worker, supposedly untouchable because of a no lay off clause?
That one little sentence is what has so far kept many of us from hitting the pavement with a couple million other people.
Most of us are totally unqualified for any job out in the real world, so insulated we have been in our bubble.
Start thinking about it. What will YOU do when the bubble pops? How much do YOU still have in your TSP? How long have you worked for a company where all you gotta do is press buttons and do a little mail jogging? Think any company out there would be interested in you?
Think again. And stay close to the union. They are the only people who can possibly save your job down the line.
Look what is happening all around us. Another huge company today announced they are laying off 11,000 people. Its coming closer and closer to us every day.
