What has Tom Wood done?

It’s been almost two months since Tom Wood has been elected to the position of president.

What has he done?

1. Saved the ten-four program for maintenance.
2. Mmmmm what else??? Has Jim Roland doing some type of work for the Union.

What has Tom Wood not done?

1. NOT posted a new stewards roster- the one posted still shows Clark Moody as a Tour One steward and Francisco B. as a Tour Two steward (both of these individuals are in maintenance). Do you think this will cause problems with grievances????

2. NOT posted a station steward list. (while Tom has posted a notice on the Carmel Mountain Union office door naming some chief stewards he has failed to post anything on ANY other bulletin boards) THE MEMBERS HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW WHO IS THEIR STEWARD!

3. NOT had Ricky’s name removed from the joint statement on safety posted on the bulletin board near the men’s locker room.

4. NOT had any new shop stewards classes to train all stewards.

5. NOT got the Tour Steward program returned.

6. NOT got the Union web site up and running. (Is the web master being paid?)

Attend your Union meetings and demand answers!

Also wondering this one: When are the members going to learn that Rick Cornelius faked a job offer for a member, which resulted in her getting a notice of removal by the USPS?

I remember this blog, under the old ownership, promised we would know the truth, the whole truth. Well, I looked at the minutes of the meeting where the trial report was read, voted on and the sentence was handed out. Trouble is, there is nothing in the minutes except: Charges were read against a member, and vote was taken. Something to that effect.

Why are the minutes still being censured? Is this kind of stuff going to continue? Will no one learn the terrible truth of just how dangerous Rick was?

Why is the new president hiding the truth? Is he doing it in order to get along with Rick's number one ass-kisser Will Tagart?

I understand that Tom HAS to work with the unethical jerk that is the VP now, but truth is truth and don't the members deserve to know it? Surely Will Tagart has to admit by now that his old boss was an unethical, immoral degenerate, right?

Where can the members get the whole truth about the charges that were read at the May meeting?

An article for the Potpourri maybe? Or are people still afraid that Tagart and Cornelius are going to sue you for tellingthe facts?

Is the previous blog owner reading this blog? Please come back, and tell us the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!!!

I regret to inform the readers that the national union is forcing our local to cover up what Rick did, because he was such an embarrassment to everyone associated with the APWU.

Push it deep in the closet, way under the rug, behind the couch, whatever, just print the bare minimum, and the members won't even notice.

Thats it people. Sorry. If you want to know the truth in its entirety, go to the office and ask to read an entire copy of the trial report.

The attorney for our local stated that EVERY member has the right to a copy of the trial board report. EVERY MEMBER has the right to know.

But good luck. In the spirit of burying the hatchet, I think you will find noncooperation from the officials who know what they should do.

Because remember folks, you want bygones to be bygones, you want everyone to take the Rodney King approach (that isn't realistic and never works, by the way) and just everybody get along.

Nope, the members are blissfully unaware of how close they came to having their local put under conservativeship and all its assets lost through a lawsuit. And what is saddest of all, most wouldn't even care.

its way too early to be scrutinizing Tom Wood. for those people at MLS, just a heads up.

You may think all the planets revolve around you guys, but there are many many other facilities, buildings, pay locations. And if Rick damaged all those other sites the way he damaged MLS, there is a whole lotta crap to be shoveled out of everywhere. You don't know what he is doing, because you aren't behind the closed door meetings. Remember he is dealing with a new meaner group of postal management, who really don't care one iota about the bargaining units. They would just as soon fire us all. And how do you deal with that type of management? Gradually and carefully.

Give him at least 6 months to clean up the mess, put out the fires, all while dealing with new disasters coming up every few days.

Geez!

Hard to get things done when you got jerks like Tagart who can't be trusted taking up mucho space.

Would YOU be able to do your job, whatever it is, if there was someone following behind you screwing up everything you do?

And who would you go to to fix it? We already discovered that filing charges doesn't work to fix anything.

The union is only as good as the people in officer and steward positions. They better be willing to do a lot of free work for the union and take lots of their family and "me" time and put it towards union work. If not, you have one or two people stuck with mountains of work.

I think many people learned their hard lesson over the past 3 years, that volunteerism and giving so much of one's personal time wasn't worth it, and wasn't appreciated. And you are seeing the results of good people finally seeing the light and no longer slaving for a losing cause of whining brats.

Are you ready to go to a 3 day steward class to become a steward, then attend saturday morning steward meetings, monthly general membership meetings, class upon class, march in pickets, be available for staff meetings, investigations on your day off, and volunteer for phone banking?

Didn't think so. And most of the ones who engaged in this kind of silliness have seen the light.

You are now getting the minimum representation from your local and you can thank Cornelius and Tagart for poisoning the well and destroying people's desire to pour all their time and sweat into helping our local to help the members. We used those people for a long time, and they just got sick of it. Can't blame them.

Welcome to a new, leaner, and meaner union.

Hey... "no one that matters"

Why should we not expect some to see results from Tom Wood being in office? Just asking for simple changes that can readily be seen by all the members. Like updating all the different lists that are around to remove all individuals who are no longer office or stewards. Plus, when is Tom Wood going to get the keys for the MLS Union office back from the former President Ricky Cornelius?

Anonymous said...

Union officials have already attempted to get the keys back from Mr Cornelius. Mr Cornelius flat out told them he doesn't have the keys. What shall we do, strip search him and pull them out of his ass?

And we already know that mgmt has designs on that steward office at MLS. They already have half of it for file storage. And guess what? Its their building. If Wood wants to get stinky with them, we could find ourselves in the center of the building next to a noisy bank of DBCS machines, in a non-secured (and no key necessary) cubicle, just like we had in the eighties at Midway.

I too would like to have everything resolved in the first month. We Americans think all situations can be solved instantly, as if we are watching a half hour sit-com or a 2 hour made for tv movie. I too am quite impatient. But remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was our Local.

I suggest, if you have concerns, prepare a respectful list of questions and present them at the upcoming meeting. He will give a report on some of your concerns, I am sure, and you can ask him about the rest of them.

But remember, Rick refuses to cooperate, and he knows that no one, not the members, not the trial board, no one, can make him act like a man. And also remember, mgmt is circling our local and its members like wolves tracking their prey.

the keys to the offices should be a no brainier!

CHANGE THE LOCKS!

management will change the locks the union just has to pay. and the new keys are NOT that expensive.

as far as posting a new list this too should be a no brainier. it was the little things that Tom did NOT do in 2005 that cost him the election!

WILL HISTORY REPEAT IT SELF?

I also would like to suggest to members that they might want to attend the convention in Las Vegas this August.

The Potpourri stated that there are openings for non-funded delegates. I have put in for one of the non-funded spots. I have a cousin in Henderson who will let me stay there, so its won't cost me much.

I went one other time in I think it was 1992, and it was interesting to see how the convention goes. Lots of arguing, discussion, proper use of Roberts Rules of Order. I learned a lot and realized that our locals don't really matter that much, its what National does that matters to most of us most of the time.

Put in for a spot. I think you will get alot out of the experience.

you know it Rick miss up so much for are uion let give Tom some time. Look at the V.M.F it job are all most gone because of Rick

If I remember right, the web master job was strictly a volunteer thing. Don't remember anything about it being a paid position. Not that it should be a free-gratis thing. Like that other person commented, who the hell wants to waste their time, unpaid, for a bunch of people who don't appreciate a damn thing?

Kind of like volunteering for the PTA for years and years, and all you get is the satisfaction that you were there for your kid. Putting up with the nuts and politics along the way was a major headache, but I did it for my kids. They are grown, and I am done with that now, and I wouldn't do it again for anyone's kid.

So, maybe if the webmaster was paid for his services, he would have more inclination to start working on it.

And maybe, the E-Board needs to get all these important issues straight at their day-long planning meeting. I think they will be having one soon, if they haven't already because one of my co-workers who is on the eboard told me thats what Tom does at the beginning of an e-board term in office. And after that meeting, you will start seeing some action on things.

Yes. The locks can be changed. But speaking from experience as a former steward, I know that the APWU can put in a request to change the locks, but management does NOT have to jump when the union tells them to.

Remember boys and girls, it ain't your post office, even tho you think it is because you've been hanging around so long with your paws out every two weeks when the eagle shits.

What makes you think Tom hasn't put in a change of locks, only to have mgmt put him off because they have other plans for the office.

Make sure you know what you are talking about before you crucify Wood.

So is Brendon still a steward or not? He is telling people he isn't repping people no more. He is not wearing the steward badge. Hell, he wouldn't even sign my schedule change.

I know he is telling his friends that he is forcing Wods hand, and when Woods decertifies him, he will accuse Tom of insulting Asians. Thats the plan. But meanwhile, he is on the list of stewards. If he refuses to rep us, can we file a charge with the Labor Dept? I think we can. And if someone does, then what? watch this little cat and mouse game. WHo will act first, Brendon or Wood?

And is Ester still pitching emo-fits at Midway? We don't get any more reports and I am mordibly curious.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 7:22 Yes you can file labor charges against brendon. ands I would if I was you.

Anonymous 10:02 why don't you go ask the key man if any new locks and keys have been made? if you are a former steward you do not know anything about the current procedures. locks are being changed every day. it would take nothing but a letter.

Anonymous said...

Yes, it takes a letter. If I remeber right, only one dude in maintenance mgmt is involved with the process, so it goes to his desk. If he isn't there, or on vacation, or on a special detail, or at a powwow at Pechanga or whatnot, you are going to wait until he gets back.

If he doesn't fill the request tout-sweet, what recourse does the union have? A grievance? OOOH, thats so scary. Send shivers down the spine of mgmt. Kind of like filing charges against mr dictator cornelius or his rimm-jobber tagart for not acting in good faith. pretty useless, right?

Hate to shatter your disillusions, but mgmt isn't going to jump when apwu orders them too. They've already been there done that for a while with our previous prez the queen of attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder himself, mr cornelius. They got tired of his letters to change locks every time he decertified a steward and was too scared to ask the former steward for the key back.

If Woods don't play his cards right, pretty soon, the apwu could have a lovely dust filled niche in between the DBCSs, where you won't need keys to enter.

But really, the inmates at MLS have pretty much taken responsibility for their own careers these days. After 3 years of anarchy, the people have discovered that really, they don't much need the local, except in very rare cicumstances.

Cornhole and his Bubba introduced the "every man for himself" culture we now have at MLS and beyond. That could well be their lasting legacy. I know in my case, I will take care of myself. especially if MOM gangsters remain in a position to meddle in my affairs

Anonymous 5:20 PM

JUST HAVE WOOD WRITE THE LETTER~

the cost is 78 bucks to re-key and when the letter shows up it will be done.

Anonymous said...

How about a potpourri article about the charges against Rick that were censored from the minues?

Anyone out there with the facts AND the balls to put an article in the union paper? Or will that put you on the major hit list?

Better yet, how about this suggestion for Will tagart: Will you have shown in the past that you like to submit wordy articles naming people, accusing them, and alleging wrong doing by these people to union members. Looks like you are the guy to follow your trend and write the article about what Rick did to the innocent, trusting, injured Filipina. This one ought to be easy for you, since you know all the facts, and don't mind writing expose articles.

So this call is for Mr Tagart. Next Potpourri, lets see your expose on your former boss, Mr. Ricky.

Or are you still remaining true to him and all he stood for?

Show us you have changed your ways.

Anonymous said...

Forget the truth coming from Bill/Will, Mr chief of high chiefs, or whatever he calls himself these days.

For Mr tagart, The truth is relative. Like any politician, he will twist truth to destroy good people, and ignore truth to protect evil people.

Thats all you can expect from him. And by the way, I think he won. Not by becoming the VP, but in what you will see in future months. In case you haven't figured it out, evil triumphs over good every time. Because good can't stomach evil, and evil has a very long attention span. It can lie in wait for months, years, centuries even, to carry out its ultimate goal. Good capitulates and retreats every time, because in order to defeat evil, good must also resort to negativity, to fight them on the only level evil understands.

And many cannot lower themselves or compromise their principles, so consequently, the good in our local are retreating, even after the decisive removal of Rick Cornelius from all union-related activity for years to come.

You just think you won the battle. Evil is still there, lurking in the shadows, and faking a change of heart. The good people are slowly figuring out that its too late. Some will stick around to feebly try to fight back the evil, the others have already cut their losses and blended back into the anonymous face of of rank and file union members. And some are currently selling themselves to the evil people in the misguided belief that the evil people have changed their ways.

Fools. Naive Fools, they are.

Hey all. Notice that full time jobs are being replaced with part time jobs? It gonna get bigger than that. didja know that part time people can't have overtime? read Article 8.

So, very soon, only the most senior people will full time jobs, and the ability to get on the OT list if they need to.

can you believe DBCS tour 1 jobs could ever possibly be part time jobs? Its amazing. Never thought I'd see that day come.

Its not going to get better either.
Now, do you think that giving up our part time flexibles have something to do with this? Of course it does. The USPS was forced to convert a hundred people to full time as a result of the new contract. Combine that with the substantial drop in volume and what do you have? A future disaster. Part time bids replacing full time ones is step one. Next step: Excessing from the Installation. Its coming, and the union cannot stop it, either locally or nationally. And Tagart and his RI399 won't be able to do a thing to stop the coming storm.

hey all I was looking around on various sites and noticed that lots of union people across the country think that Rick Cornelius is still the president. The info they have is that Rick is Prez and his major man suck up Tagart is vice president. Well, they got the suck up guy right, but what goes with Cornelius still wearing the golden crown and sitting on the porceline thrown?

If I remember right, he lost, and whats more, we threw the sob out of the union for the next 5 years.

Maybe national should get an update of this? who should we contact?

Anonymous said...

Just a question.

Did anyone attend June's union meeting? I totally spaced on it and didn't remember until it was too late. My bad.

Anyhow, anything of note? Anything interesting? Did Rick's group show up, or have they continued to show their true colors?

Anybody out there with the info?

there was a union gathering for sign up of new members yet no one told the union members that it was going on at MLS. What was up with that? National sent some of their business agents to the plant and there was a poor showing from the S.D. union we need to get better organize if we are to improve our membership enrollment. There is alot of abuse of power in the plant by supervisor's, how can a manager have his girlfriend become a 204b and let her go crazy with power? If anyone is interested they should watch maintenance tour 2 204b's power struggle that is going on now. Why is the union not doing anything about this? Are the union officials scared of Mr.Sweet?
